Share a memory that could only have happened because of where you were.

Getting to graduate in a small country church in England

High school graduating year:

1979

School Story

So many memories, football games, AUA dances, track meets, honor choir, school plays, winter cotillion, proms, etc.

What have you been up to since you graduated?

Getting married, working as Insurance Underwriter, having two girls, staying home to raise them, getting published, starting a nonprofit, enjoying grandchildren, getting divorced and finding my new normal.

Favorite overseas memory:

All the school trips seeing France, whales, Ireland. Staying in Hostels and being with friends! This fostered a confidence and independence that has served me well. Immersing in another culture broadens a persons mind.

Have you been to a Gathering or Homecoming?

Yes

The dreaded question...Where are you from? Feel free to elaborate—we love brat stories!

I’m an air force brat, didn’t move as much as some but after my dads 6 years in California we moved to Bentwaters England where I graduated HS Then went back to California for college.

Of all the places you’ve lived, which one still holds a piece of your heart — and why?

Georgia, Indiana, California and England, which had the greatest impact and has me looking for authentic tea houses whenever I can!

Have you been back to visit any place you lived growing up overseas?

Yes, I went back 35 years later with my husband daughter and parents. We visited Woodbridge town and the house we rented off base and even stopped by the museum at Bentwaters, not much there but meaningful for my dad. It was the last big trip they took.
