Emma Lou Campbell passed away on May 13, 2023, in Oceanside, California, at the age of 84. She is remembered with deep love by her many family members and friends as a woman who cherished her heritage and the lifelong connections she made across the globe.

Emma Lou attended school in Bamberg, Germany, from 1946 to 1948. As one of the early students in the post-WWII overseas school system, she is fondly remembered by fellow Brats who shared in those pioneering experiences. Her stories from the early days of the occupation remained a vibrant part of her history.

A dedicated member of the Overseas Brats community since 1998, Emma Lou’s presence helped preserve the unique legacy of the first generation of American students in Germany.
