Joy Harper Bryant passed away in Austin, Texas, on April 16, 2019, following a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born in San Antonio, Joy was a dedicated elementary school teacher who touched lives in San Antonio, San Francisco, and Dallas. She was a devoted wife to her husband, David, for 43 years, and a wonderful mother to her three daughters.
As an Air Force "brat," Joy grew up on bases across the United States and the Philippines. She attended high school at Wagner High School in Tainan, Taiwan, before returning to Texas to graduate from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1971. She is fondly remembered by fellow Brats for her warmth, friendship, and the adventurous spirit she carried from her years overseas.
A beloved and foundational member of the Overseas Brats community since 1986, Joy’s long-standing connection to her fellow military alumni is a cherished part of our story.
