John Parkinson Brokaw, Ph.D. passed away on February 17, 2001, at the age of 66. A dedicated lifelong educator, Dr. Brokaw served for over 32 years as a music teacher and administrator for the Department of Defense Dependents Schools (DoDDS). His career took him across the globe to France, Turkey, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, and Germany. He was deeply active in the retirement community for overseas schools and served as the head deacon of Crestview Christian Church.

Dr. Brokaw’s extensive leadership included serving as an administrator in the Philippines and Japan, concluding his career with seven years as the principal of Patch American High School in Stuttgart, Germany. He is fondly remembered by thousands of "military brats" and fellow faculty members for his passion for music, his leadership at European Command headquarters, and his unwavering support of students worldwide.

A foundational member of the Overseas Brats community since 1986, Dr. Brokaw’s early support and dedication were instrumental in the growth of our alumni network.
