Joan Kay McCarter Adrian

Joan Kay McCarter Adrian passed away on July 16, 2023, in Frankfort, Kentucky, at the age of 91. Born in Muskogee, Oklahoma, Joan was a dedicated medical assistant and a successful small business owner who operated her own electrolysis business for nearly 30 years. She was a woman of deep commitment, sharing 64 years of marriage with her husband, Donn Roy, and remaining an active supporter of the Capital City Museum. She is survived by her three daughters, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Joan graduated from Nurnberg High School in Germany with the Class of 1948. As one of the early students of the post-WWII overseas school system, she was a pioneering "military brat" who carried the memories of her time in Germany throughout her life. She is fondly remembered by fellow "Eagles" for her early involvement in the alumni community and her lifelong pride in her overseas heritage.

A dedicated member of the Overseas Brats community since 1986, Joan remained a proud and constant part of our story for nearly four decades.
